Beautiful waterfalls in Manali

Blessed with an extraordinary scenic beauty, Manali is a favorite holiday destination for tourists whether its for honeymoon, summer holidays or for winter adventure sports.

Manali offers endless things for tourist, hence it is always on the top most priority in their book list. Of the mesmerizing beauty which makes Manali the Switzerland of India, waterfall is another factor which adds charm to its beauty. The crystal-clear gushing white waterfall from a height and surrounding greenery fascinates tourist towards it.

Here are a few must visit waterfalls in Manali:

Rahala falls:

Surrounded by a thick dense forest of birch and deodar trees, Rahala falls is a place with striking views where one can sit for hours exploring the silence and experiencing the natural beauty. It is situated at 29 kms from Manali and at an altitude of 2501m. It is located enroute to Rohtang pass about 23km and on the Leh-Manali highway. Rahala falls is 50 kms from Manali and is easily reachable by road via taxi and buses that are available to the falls.

The water here is always extremely cold as it is believed to be the outcome of melting of glaciers and so the best time to visit this place is from March to October. The gushing water, beautiful and striking snow-covered Himalayas urges us to spend hours with family members and enjoy its beauty.

Jogini Waterfalls:

Situated on the northern edge of Vashisht village, this waterfall is named after a village Goddess Jogini. It is about 4 km distance trek from Vashisht temple and it takes about 30 minutes or an hour to reach the base of the waterfall. It is easily accessible as it is 7.5km away from Manali Bus stand and from main market Vashisht Temple is just 2km away. The trek route takes through narrow adjacent lane close to Vashisht Temple and then you can enjoy the beautiful apple orchards, tall pine trees and streams. Authentic Himachal Food like Kadi Chawal, brown rice, rajma are sold here in restaurants which are on the way. The memorial Yogini Mata Temple is also at the base of the waterfall. From there the stiff climb to reach the top takes around another 15 mins. The whole trek is full of scenic beauty where one can see Beas river and snow peaks of Rohtang on the left side.

The waterfall showers down from a height of about 150 feet through several levels. A small pool is formed by the falling water where tourists take bath and spend plenty of time rejuvenating themselves and watching the waterfall. The best time to visit is in the afternoon when the sunlight hits directly on the falls and you can enjoy nature and click photographs.

Jana Waterfall:

Situated at 12kms from Naggar village, this beautiful waterfall is surrounded by pine, deodar trees, apple orchards. One can experience the breath-taking views of snow peaked mountain from this spot. The fall lies inside the village called Jana which is equally distanced from both Kullu and Manali which is about 32 kms.

The single lane road starts from Naggar Market center and ends towards Bijli Mahadev Temple. The water gushes down from a gathering of rocks and refreshes all senses. To get a more clear view, a small easy trek to the top would explore the beauty of Jana waterfall.  Tourists swim and take baths in the small pool filled by the waterfall.

On the way to the fall, the easy trek is made better by the local delicious food offered by restaurants and dhabas lined in this area. The best time to visit here is from September to June.

Rozy Falls:

Situated on the way to Rohtang Pass from Manali, this is a perfect picnic spot worth visiting carrying camera to capture the nature and feel the lap of mother nature. Surrounded by green valleys, tall deodar trees and forested mountains, the amazing sight of white water gushing, showering down the face of large rocks formation between high hills from a great height makes it ravishing and exciting .\

To spend leisure time and experience the nature, Rozy falls is a must visit place. The beauty of the fall becomes more eye catching during monsoon as the rain water fills it and the falls grows and comes tumbling down to its maximum size.
